Winners of different competitions organised by the Bharat Aluminium Company ltd (BAlCO) as part of the National Safety Week were honoured and given prizes here on Thursday.
The competitions were organized on March 4 to March 29 at Balco factory, township premises and schools. To raise safety-related awareness, participants had been asked to write slogans, story, and run for safety, among many others.
A large number of students, employees, their families and contract workers had participated in the competitions. The winners were honoured and given prizes at a special function organised at the Balco canteen.
Commercial department head of Balco Deepak Prasad attended the ceremony as chief guest. Prasad and the head of Balco (power) Atanu Ghosh Chowdhury while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of safety in life.
They also expressed their satisfaction over the participation of large number of people, including children, employees and contract workers of Balco in the events. Balco hospital and cast house 1 team demonstrated a safety drill. With their acting the artists made the audience aware of safety related matters.
They demonstrated how rescue operation is conducted to save people from an unsafe working environment, roads and houses, and how help is extended to victims during an emergency.
