Will medical college fulfil MCI conditions in time?

Published on:

Although Medical Council of India (MCI) has given conditional permission to Jagdalpur Medical College for admission to MBBS course for this academic session, it is a challenge for the medical college to complete the shortcomings as notified by the MCI within a period of three months.

With construction of college building still under process and appointment of faculty and other facilities yet to be completed, it seems almost impossible to meet the norms within the stipulated time.According to sources, MCI has given permission to the medical college to take admission on 50 seats of MBBS course. The conditional permission was given by MCI after the State Government gave an undertaking to complete the eligibility requirements within three months.

However, from the previous record of the medical college the target seems to be impossible.

The medical college is facing crisis of qualified doctors. Despite handsome packages to the tune of lakhs of rupees, the medical college is not getting faculty. In addition to this, a number of doctors have left the job while transfer of doctors has worsened the situation. Even after so many years of its establishment, a number of departments of the medical college has no expert doctors. Technical staff is also insufficient in numbers.

The building of the medical college is being constructed in Dimrapal and it will take at least three months to complete the building and shift the medical college. For completing other formalities it will taken another month or so and thus it seems impossible to meet the target within the given time period. The college authorities however are working with a positive approach to complete the eligibility norms in time.
