Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi must declare his party’s leader for Chhattisgarh, BJP national general secretary and party’s in-charge of Chhattisgarh JP Nadda demanded on Friday.
“Why is the Congress not declaring its leader for ChhattisgarhIJ There is a mischief in the Congress campaign as the party wants to bring former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in the forefront,” he said, while addressing a Press conference here. He said that the people of Chhattisgarh want clarity as to who is the Congress party’s leader for Chhattisgarh.
Nadda said that the Congress has already accepted defeat in the first phase of polls in Chhattisgarh. “This is the prime reason why the Congress secretary, in-charge of Chhattisgarh Bhakt Charan Das has demanded early counting of votes for the polls conducted in Bastar.” Congress leaders think that the BJP would tamper with the EVMs. That is why a demand had been raised by them to get early results for the first phase of polls, he said. Nadda said that there is a ‘pro-incumbency’ wave flowing in favour of the BJP in Chhattisgarh. “People want to see Raman Singh as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh for the third time in the State.”
On the Congress’ promise in its manifesto to distribute rice free in Chhattisgarh, Nadda remarked, “Why didn’t the Congress party promise distribution of free rice in the Congress-ruled States of Maharashtra and Andhra PradeshIJ” “On Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Chhattisgarh tomorrow, I would like to ask him to highlight certain issues such as the current financial state of the country, policy paralysis, high cost of various commodities causing untold hardship to the people, devalution of the rupee and rising inflation,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi must also explain to the people of Chhattisgarh his trashing of Prime Minister’s proposed ordinance on allowing convicts among MPs to contest polls, record breaking corruption in the UPA Government and the whereabouts of the coal scam files, Nadda said. On Centre’s Food Security Bill, the BJP National general secretary asked why did the Congress party waited for nine long years to come out with its Food Security BillIJ
The Congress party could have declared the support price for paddy much earlier as it is the Centre which decides the support price, he said.
