Reacting strongly to the statement of BJP spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane demanding resignation of State Congress president Bhupesh Patel over last two days of happenings on the issue of poll tickets for Raipur lok Sabha seat, party spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said that the Congress had been distributing tickets for lok Sabha polls much earlier and in a better manner than the BJP in the State.
He said that every leader and worker of the party is engaged in striving to win all the 11 lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, for which the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had given a clarion call. As such, the statement of BJP spokesperson Upasane demanding resignation of party’s State president Bhupesh Baghel on the clear and bold statement made by him, is totally wrong, improper, irrelevant and ridiculous, he said.
If Upasane is so fond of demanding resignation, he should have demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Raman Singh when the Congress leaders like Vidyacharan Shukla, Nandkumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudaliyar, Dinesh Patel, Yogendra Sharma, Abhishek Golchha and Gopi Madhvani were killed in the Maoist attack in Jeeram valley last year. He should ask for the resignation of the Chief Minister on the incidents of sexual harassment of the daughters of Chhattisgarh, who were under Government protection, at Jhaliamari, sexual exploitation of girls at Amadula Girls Ashram at Balod, Trivedi said.
Trivedi asked that when the BJP spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane could not muster moral courage to demand resignation from Chief Minister Raman Singh on the condemnable and base-level incidents which happened repeatedly at the Dhanora and Bijapur Ashrams in Narayanpur district, how he is demanding the resignation of Bhupesh Baghel . He said, “We would have welcomed the demand of Upasane, if he has the moral courage to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Raman Singh on these issues.”
