Why action against only 12 in graft case, asks Baghel

The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said that during action taken against State Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department officials and employees , the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had raided 28 locations across Chhattisgarh and had recovered 3.64 crore from 25 persons involved. He raised the question that why only 12 persons have been arrested so far while addressing a Press conference at the party’s State headquarters here at Congress Bhawan. Baghel further questioned why the case had not also been handed over to the Income Tax Department for investigation.  He demanded an SIT probe monitored by a court to ensure fair investigation into the scam.

Speaking on the relevance and genuineness of the diary that was recovered during ACB raid, Baghel said that State Government is doing all it can to disprove the existence of such a diary.  He said that ACB officials had admitted to existence of this diary during various media interactions but the State Government as well as the accused is now rubbishing this crucial piece of evidence.  Baghel said that efforts are now on to hush up the entire case and limit the ambit of the probe rather than ensuring fair probe and bringing culprits to justice.
