The man who played an explosive inning of unbeaten 51 of 25 balls for Delhi Daredevils, David Warner, paving their way for second victory in the ongoing season six of IPlT-20 at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, attributed the victory as team effort. Talking with reporters after the match Warner acknowledged the bowling of pace bowler Umesh Yadav for his remarkable 19th over which clearly turned the match for team Delhi Daredevils.
He said “Umesh is bowling very well and his wicket taking was sensational. He has made come back from injury very well and will perform well in coming Indian Champions trophy,” Man of the match Warner said and added “batting first is quite easy and getting 21 runs in an over is fantastic.”
Over the change in his batting order, Warner said, “I played that role because we need some power play in between. Mahela and Veeru can give good start, Mahela can work good with ball. Mahela came and said me to play in middle order and defiantly we need some good defences in middle order, so I agreed to play,” informed the Australian batsmen. “Hopefully I can keep the continue form and we could keep winning continuously,” he maintained.
Commenting over the future of Delhi Daredevils in the season, he said: “We now know that we have to treat every game as semi-final. If we keep winning all the games than we can make to the finals and this is our goal and have to maintain our form and keep on giving our best. We have to fire determination and keep doing till the end.”
Over the stadium in Raipur he opined that the boundaries are bigger and it is hard to clear the boundaries. Comparing the Raipur stadium with that in Melbourne he said the field is same but Melbourne is little bigger one. “Raipur is a fantastic venue and hopefully we will keep playing here in future,” Warner hoped.
Replying to the query over weak fielding he said “some time in field we let go 15 to 20 runs which is disappointing in 20-20 format. It is very crucial that you have to stop those runs. We have to get a bit smarter. As a group we have to do lot more as we are leaking more runs and not taking catches of players like luke Wright and Yuvraj Singh,” Warner concluded.
