A ‘Water and land Management Institiute’ (WAlMI) had been proposed to be opened in Raipur.

In this context, State Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Brijmohan Agrawal visited the Water and land Management Institute in the Madhya Pradesh state capital Bhopal on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the ‘Water and land Management Institute’ had been established in 18 states of the country barring Chhattisgarh.

He said that Chhattisgarh is blessed with high amount of minerals and natural resources but lacks facilities of a government institution for training farmers in soil and water management. Agrawal said that Chhattisgarh’s farmers have to visit Bhopal or Aurangabad to gather information about soil and water management needs. He said that the farmers would be directly benefitted if the Water and land Management Insititute is opened in Chhattisgarh.

The establishment of the institute would immensely help the farmers and would also assist in better management of vacant land which would directly benefit the farmers, the Minister said.
