Vyapam-like scam in C'garh too, claims Congress

On the lines of Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, a similar scam has occurred in Chhattisgarh, claimed former State Congress party MlA Mohammed Akbar on Sunday. The CID has investigated the PMT paper leak case in Chhattisgarh. The students suspected to be involved in the scam were identified but were never arrested, he said while addressing a Press conference here on Sunday.

Akbar also demanded CBI investigation into the case.“Not only PMT, but appointments by Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) had serious irregularities,” State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel said. Though the issue was raised in the Chhattisgarh Assembly recently, the State Government has remained tight-lipped over the issue, he said.

“Beniram Verma and Bediram Verma who had leaked PMT question papers were arrested but were soon released on bail and their bail plea was also not challenged in the court by the present regime in the State,” Bhupesh claimed.   “No action was taken against the then Chairman of Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CPEB). Exam Controller (CPEB) BP Tripathi who was blacklisted by Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University (RSU) was given such an important responsibility on what grounds, government should explain,” he demanded.

BJP leader Dr Giri Sahu who had arranged food, transport and lodging for the students at Takhatpur during 2010 PMT paper leak case was spared during investigation. This shows that people who have higher reach in the government or are posted in higher posts were part of the paper leak, Baghel charged.

Speaking about Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC), the State Congress Chief said that several times results declared by CGPSC were withheld or cancelled. Examination scores of family members of higher Government officers were increased illegally, he added.
