Vora denies factionalism in Chhattisgarh Congress

Former State president of Nationalist Congress Party Nobel Verma who was elected from Chandrapur Assembly constituency in 2003 on NCP ticket, after years long hectic lobbying finally joined Congress fold on Thursday. All India Congress Committee Treasurer Motilal Vora welcomed Verma in the party. With ensuring Verma’s entry, the official group scoured yet another success as a section of Congress was dead against his overtures citing his waning influence in the area as Verma was trying to join Congress to ensure a ticket for himself from his traditional seat.

Though Verma’s entry may have little impact on Congress poll prospects, the move may fuel internal wrangling and encourage groupism.

However, Vora denied any groupism in the party, saying “There was unity in Congress, it is still united and will remain so in future too.”

Talking to media persons after the entry of Nobel Verma at Congress Bhawan, Vora said Ajit Jogi had met him in Delhi and requested to participate in the Kalash Yatra. Jogi also had told him that he would stay in Delhi for some health reason.

To a question regarding Jogi and his supporters gathering in Delhi Vora said they were in Delhi to get approved some development projects from MlA/MP Development fund and had met him in this connection.

There was nothing wrong in any body going to Delhi, he added.

On a question of Kalash Yatra, Vora said the Kalash Yatra is taken out in memory of the departed leaders and was in no way a ‘vote politics’. With so many leaders martyred in Darbha Maoist attack Congress leaders and workers were very sad and could hardly forget the loss. Due to serious lapses on the part of state administration in security of Congress leaders this tragedy occurred, he added expressing the hope that such lapses should not recur in future.
