The suspension of Thana In-charge (TI) Darri in Korba district after he had asked Chief Secretary Sunil Kujur to show his identity-card took a political turn on Thursday.
Rajya Sabha member and senior Congress leader Vivek Tankha opposed the Chief Secretary’s action. In his tweet posted on Thursday while terming the action wrong he said-
“Sorry chief secretary u are wrong. It is the duty of policemen to check IDs of each person entering high security zone. Chhattisgarh is a highly sensitive state. CM security is Z+ category. U don’t suspend / transfer someone for doing his duty (sic).”
Notably, TI Darri, Raghunandan Sharma was posted in CM security duty during Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s Korba visit. While checking i-cards at the public meeting venue he had failed to recognize the chief secretary and asked CS Sunil Kujur to produce his i-card. Later on, Sharma was line attached and suspended.
BJP also took the opportunity to rake up the old issues like the removal of SP Sukma after he had written a letter to Minister Kawasi Lakhma and recent removal of Kanak Tiwari from the post of Advocate General.
BJP state spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava said, “Chief Secretary is the head of administration in the state. If he has to face inconveniences from people deployed in Chief Minister’s duty then it is evident that administrative system has failed in Chhattisgarh.”
“Congress is playing dual standard politics and Chief Minister has failed in controlling the system,” he alleged.
