The State Forest Department will hold a programme named ‘Hariyali Ki Dor–Janata Ki Dor’ (Greenary’s reign is people’s reign) across Chhattisgarh on the occasion of World Environment Day here on Thursday.

Under this programme, villagers of all 7,887 forest management committees of the State will take pledge for making ‘Hariyar Chhattisgarh’ Campaign (Green Chhattisgarh Campaign) a huge success.

Chief Minister Raman Singh who has the Forest Department portfolio with him has extended warm wishes for successful accomplishment of the programme.

Singh has appealed to all the villagers, associated with various forest management committees, and also the Panchs and Sarpanchs and the general public to actively participate in the event.

Moreover, in his appeal to the people of Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister said that in the upcoming monsoon season, the State government has the target of holding intensive plantation programmes at various places of State. During  these programmes, nearly 6.50 crore plants of various species are to be planted with extensive public participation.

He further said that there is a strong relationship between forest and human life. Not only for the existence of human life but also for maintaining the quality of life, is conservation of forest resources extremely important.

Singh said that in the modern era, people used to clear forests for the sake of industrial development, but later they understood that clearing of forests can endanger the existence of life. The ‘World Environment Day’ is the result of this very concern of people across the world, he said.

But better late than never; today all-round extensive campaign is being conducted for conservation and preservation of forests across the world, the Chief Minister stated.

He added that it is a matter of immense pleasure that on the occasion of World Environment Day, the Forest Department is organising ‘Hariyali Ki Dor-Janata Ki Dor’ programme. The villagers of all 7887 forest management committees of the State will take the pledge of making ‘Hariyar Chhattisgarh’ (Green Chhattisgarh) campaign a huge success.

On the occasion, Singh appealed to the people of Chhattisgarh to cooperate and participate in the programme to nurture the greenery of the State.
