Villagers of Harinbhatta Gram Panchayat are forced to depend on private water tankers for drinking water nowadays.The hand pumps are not functioning for past many days, villagers informed.
Out of the seven hand-pumps, only one is functioning to cater to the drinking water need of a 1,500 population. However, Bhagirathi Baya, a departmental official has mentioned of not being aware of the situation.
He mentioned of repairing one hand-pump in past few days. Rekha Devi, the village Sarpanch, said that people of the village are forced to shell-out money for the drinking water.
She also mentioned of incurring the expenditure of Rs 500 from her own pocket to pay for the private tanker for the facility of the people.
