As part of an international boxing match, ‘The Jungle Rumble’ professional Indian boxer Vijender Singh will take on Ghana's Eliasu Sulley on August 17 at the Balbir Singh Juneja Stadium here. The match will start at 6.30 pm.
It will be the first professional boxing match in Chhattisgarh, an official communication said on Tuesday.
Vijendra Singh had met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on June 8 and sought his cooperation to host the international boxing match in Raipur. Baghel had promised him all assistance.
Vijender Singh will enter the ring after almost 19 months. He had undergone training at Manchester. Both Vijender Singh and Eliasu Sulley have won eight knockout matches.
