Every vaccine is important for the child from birth till the age of 16 as they protect him from many serious diseases, Chhattisgarh Immunization Officer Dr. V.R. Bhagat said on Saturday.
In an advisory to people, Bhagat said that children who were not vaccinated regularly can become infected with life-threatening diseases. The state is providing all vaccines free of cost.
He added that complete immunization acts as a protective shield to protect the life and future of babies. Due to regular vaccination across the country, life threatening diseases like polio and small-pox have been eradicated.
Similarly, other diseases found in children are also on the verge of eradication. Therefore, it is necessary to get vaccinated from time to time, he said.
Bhagat stated that immunization protects infants from diseases like tuberculosis, polio, rotavirus diarrhea, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis-B, measles, Hib-pneumonia and meningitis.
If there is swelling in the vaccinated area, then a cold water bandage can be placed on it. In case of any allergy or fever after vaccination, a health worker or doctor must be consulted.
