Amid the demands to reconsider organizing of IPl matches in Chhattisgarh, the Chairman of State Finance Commission Chandrashekhar Sahu also opined that the fund which would be spent on IPl matches should be used in providing relief to drought-hit regions of Chhattisgarh.
“The money that will be spent on two IPl matches scheduled at Raipur should be utilized for providing relief to drought-hit regions of the State. I will personally write to State government in this connection,” Sahu said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
The Government of Maharashtra has collected Rs 900 crore from IPl, film industry, industrialists and different social organization and then distributed it to all districts for battling drought, he said.
The Chhattisgarh government should take a leaf from this initiative and device similar schemes which would provide relief to the people of State, Sahu told reporters.
