People should use battery operated vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG) and other products to save petrol, Chhattisgarh Minister of Forest, Housing & Environment Mohammad Akbar said on Monday.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav (SAKSHAM) 2021 at his office-cum-residence here.
A month-long campaign was held from January 16 to promote petroleum conservation as well as green and clean energy under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Petroleum Research Association.
He said the use of CNG emits less carbondioxide and carbon monoxide as compared to petrol and it is also available at a cheaper rate vis-a-vis petrol and diesel.
At the event, Akbar administered oath to officers and employees to conserve the environment and save petrol. The programme was attended by officers of Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil Corp.
