Urbanites lag behind in smart card preparation

Urban people lag behind, as far as preparation of smart card is concerned under the Health Insurance Scheme. About 70 per cent smart cards have been prepared in the rural areas of the district, whereas, hardly 50 per cent cards prepared in Raipur and other urban areas.

Officers said that the village people come forward on their own, but people in cities do not come out of their houses, as a result, only 55 per cent cards have been prepared in the district.

According to sources, out of the total 4.29 lakh, only 2.30 lakh smart cards have so far been prepared in the district, including 55 per cent cards of Raipur, whereas, 70 per cent cards have been prepared in the rural areas of Abhanpur, Aarang and Dharsiva.

People are not coming forward for preparation of the remaining cards.

CMHO Dr KR Sonwani said that his teams have been preparing cards wherever people available, in spite of that they were not able to complete the task.

People were easily available in villages, hence most of their cards have been prepared. But in cities, the teams were facing problems, as people were not coming out of their houses. Problems in Raipur were more, he added.

He said that twice letters were written to municipal corporation administration for smart card preparation of the urbanites. They were told that problems in smart card preparation would be less if camps were held in wards.

It was compulsory for them to prepare 70 per cent smart cards. If the corporation cooperates, it would be easy to prepare the smart cards as early as possible, he added.
