The state government has, like Shikshak Panchayat, decided to give salary to lecturers, teachers and assistant teachers of urban bodies on a par with government teachers. The teachers who have completed 8 years of service will get special interim relief at 10 per cent of their minimum basic pay.
Both these orders will be effective from May 2013. In response to the decision of the state government, the Urban Administration and Development Department has issued orders in this respect.
As per the orders issued by the department, the pay scale of the lecturer who has completed 8 years of service would be 9300-34800+4300 in place the present pay 5300-15-8300. Similarly, the pay scale of teachers will be 9300-34800+4200 and the pay scale of assistant teachers would be 5200-20200+2400 in the revised pay scale.
On this scale, the teachers of urban bodies will get allowances on a par with the teachers of the state government. As per the order, the service of the urban body teachers would be counted from their joining date of their first appointment.
For the fixation of the new pay scale, after completion of 8 years satisfactory service, weightage of one annual increment will be given on two years completed service as on May 1, 2013. After May 1, 2013 annual increment will be payable every year.
