The Chhattisgarh assembly on Wednesday witnessed unruly scenes over the issue of unemployment in the state and the yardsticks set by government for declaring a youth unemployed.
BJP legislator Ajay Chandrakar during Question Hour demanded a reply from the government on the criterion for registration of youth in employment exchange as unemployed.
He said that the government had claimed falsely that the number of youths in the employment exchange had fallen by 2,77,000 from September 2022 to February 2023. Have all of them got jobs, Chandrakar asked.
Minster for Employment and Training Umesh Patel said that there was no upper age limit for registration in the employment exchange. But his answer did not satisfy the BJP legislators.
BJP's Chandrakar as well as Brijmohan Agrawal and Shivratan Sharma alleged that the government was not clear in framing the yardstick for registering a youth in the employment exchange.
Dissatisfied with the Minister's answer, the BJP legislator walked out.
The BJP legislators also walked out on the issue of the nude protest of Dalit and tribal youths over jobs taken on fake certificates.
The opposition tabled a no confidence motion against the government which was accepted by the Chair.
The Speaker said a discussion would take place on Thursday and Friday.
