Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday that there is a sort of unrest soaring among tribals in the State.
He said that this perspective by him had taken shape after meeting thousands of tribals during the ‘Padyatra’ conducted by him.
Addressing media persons here at Congress Bhawan, he charged that the ruling BJP Government of the State is ‘anti-tribal.’
The recent tour of the Chief Minister to Australia was to fetch investments in mining and steel sector planned for Bastar region. The bill regarding amendment in land Revenue Code for acquiring the tribal land was reason behind it, he alleged.
“I took ‘Padyatra’ to know ground realities about land acquisition and found that hundreds of farmers were not distributed the compensation even though their land were acquired”, he said.
There were discrepancies also in providing compensation for land acquisition. Some were getting double than market value, while on the other hand some were getting four times, he said. The condition of agrarian labourers are alarming as after the land acquisition they now are facing the problem of livelihood, he further said.
