Heavy showers lashed the city on Sunday evening bringing relief to the residents from the sweltering heat with temperature hovering around 44 degrees Celsius for the past couple of days.
The rain coupled with strong wind, however, brought the life to a standstill for some time as power outage was reported from different parts of the city.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the city on Sunday was 44.3 degree Celsius and there were no sign of rain or thunderstorm till afternoon as predicted by the weather man on Saturday.
However, the weather took a sudden turn by the evening and strong winds started blowing across the city. Soon the sky was overcast and it started raining within a few minutes.
It rained heavily although for a short duration giving an opportunity to many to enjoy the rain. The young ones came out on roads or rushed to their rooftops to enjoy the showers.
The commuters on two-wheelers did not avoid rain and continued driving while enjoying the shower. On one hand, it was a moment of joy for people but on other hand they suffered due to power outage during the period.
