Two contract workers were electrocuted while working at the NSPCl Power Plant at Purena area in the city on Wednesday.
Both the workers Dashru Ram Yadav, resident of Sirsakla village and Basant Sandhare, resident of Somni village were brought in a critical condition at the Apollo BSR Hospital where they died while undergoing treatment. Senior police officer Ravindra Upadhyay informed The Pioneer that water had got filled in the coal handling unit of the NSPCl ltd plant due to recent rainfall and both the workers were drained out rainwater from the plant when the tragedy struck.
ltd formed a joint venture with SAIl on 50:50 basis in March, 2001 in the name NTPC-SAIl Power Company Private limited (NSPCl). To meet primarily captive power requirement of SAIl’s Bhilai Steel Plant, NSPCl commissioned 2X250 MW coal fired Bhilai Expansion power plant. From the plant, NSPCl is supplying balance power to the beneficiaries in the western region. Both the units have been commissioned during 2008-09 and commercialized during 2009-10.
