Two wanted Maoists, including a female cadre carrying cash reward, were arrested by security personnel in insurgency-hit Rajnandaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Tuesday.
Based on inputs about frequent movement of cadre active under Darrekasa Area Committee and Maoist Small Action Group in areas close to forests falling under limits of Bortalao and Dongargarh police station, an operation was jointly launched by District Force (DF) and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), said Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police (SP) P Sundarraj.
“During the course of operation, security personnel rounded up two suspects in forest areas who were later identified as members of Darrekasa Area Committee Manisha alias Jani Kovachi (29) and Manglu Sori (21),” informed the officer, adding that the duo was carrying cash reward of `5 lakh each on their head.
He further elaborated that based on information gathered from the duo in preliminary interrogation, security personnel have recovered a dump from forest falling in limits of Bortalao police station and recovered 311 electronic detonators, two muzzle loading guns, live cartridges, one Motorola wireless set, sharp edged weapon and some cash.
According to Sundarraj, initial investigation suggests that the 29-year-old female cadre hailing from Kanker district was associated with the banned organization since 2006. After working as member of local Operation Squad under different area committees, she was shifted to Darrekasa Area Committee after she faced some health complications. Similarly, Manglu was inducted into the banned organization in 2006.
The arrested Naxals have revealed some vital information about internal clashes, the officer said.
He further said that the Maoists were involved in various Naxal incidents that took place during the last few years.
