Two key industrial park projects currently being implemented by the Chhattisgarh Government after being approved by the Central Government will be depending on water supply from Mahanadi river.
The Mega Food Park being established by Chhattisgarh government in Dhamtari district is located near the Mahanadi basin considered as the lifeline of Chhattisgarh, inform officials.
The Food Park is 1.5 kms from the Raipur- Jagdalpur-Hyderabad National Highway 30 and will be spread in over 150 hectares of land in Dhamtari district.
It is expected that on an average, each project will have around 30-35 food processing units with a collective investment of Rs 250 crores that would eventually lead to an annual turnover of about Rs 450-500 crores and creation of direct and indirect employment to the extent of about 30,000 persons.
The Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) is implementing the project .
Notably, the Central government’s scheme of Mega Food Parks is aimed at providing modern infrastructure facilities along the value chain from farm gate to the market with strong backward and forward linkages. It is expected to facilitate the efforts to increase the level of processing of agricultural and horticultural produce, with particular focus on perishables, in the country and thereby to check the wastage.
The Scheme has a cluster based approach based on a hub and spokes model. It includes creation of infrastructure for primary processing and storage near the farm in the form of Primary Processing Centres (PPCs) and Collection Centres (CCs) and common facilities and enabling infrastructure at Central Processing Centre (CPC).
Notably, the State government had informed early this year that it will also develop a new industrial area in around 10 hectares of land in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh.
As per information received, around 10 hectares of government land located in Kachna village of Dhamtari’s Kurud block will be utilised for developing the industrial area, officials stated.
The consent for transferring the identified land to the Industries Department has been provided by the State government and in this regard, the Directorate of Industries has also written a letter to Dhamtari District Collector, officials states.
The Industries Department has been asked to ensure strict compliance of guidelines fixed by the government for developing the industrial area and also follow conditions of land transfer order issued by the District Collector.
On the other hand, the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) being established at Sector 22 in Naya Raipur would receive abundant water supply from the Mahanadi river, officials stated.
Notably, the EMC has also received final approval from the Central Government .
The EMC is aimed at providing one stop integrated facilities with manufacturing support, welfare and common infrastructure facilities to the prospective electronics manufacturing industries.
It is envisaged to house world-class ecosystem for electronics manufacturing industries. The broad list of support manufacturing facilities proposed in the EMC includes Product design house, Tool room, Testing, calibration and certification facility, Printing and packaging facilities.
The identified land at Naya Raipur for the project is spread over 28.32 hectares of land and has excellent connectivity through NH-43 and NH-6.
An IT SEZ is also proposed in the vicinity of the proposed location. Swami Vivekananda Airport is situated at a distance of only 7 km from the proposed location of ESDM Park.
Naya Raipur is also well connected by rail. The Raipur railway station, the biggest junction in the State, is 20 kilometres away and the new railway station at Mandir Hassaud is just 2 kilometres away.
The EMC, whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on February 21 would have 61 industrial plots, officials stated.
As of now, there is minimal presence of Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the State. However, with its inherent strengths, the State has immense potential to become an ESDM hub of the country, officials stated.
