The Police had intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Maoists in the jungles of Amapayli close to the Gadhchiroli district of Maharashtra. A police team reached the spot where they had a gun fight which lasted for about an hour after which the insurgents fled away,Singh said.
Tents, utensils and other items of daily use were recovered from the spot. However strong retaliation from police party forced the guerrillas to flee into jungles, the ASP maintained.
