Two rebels carrying cash rewards were arrested from a passenger train in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Wednesday.

Following a tip-off about presence of two Naxals in a passenger train running between Visakhapatnam and Kirandul, police swung into action and succeeded in arresting the duo, said Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlochan Kashyap, adding that the State government has declared cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each on them. The arrested Naxals were identified as Commander of Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM-cultural wing of the banned organisation) Rajesh Bhaskar (20) and Janmilitia Commander Mangal (22), Kashyap said.

He further informed that the arrested duo was involved in killing of around six villagers, causing damage to railway property, loot and other crimes. Investigators have collected some vital inputs about senior cadres, Maoists supporters residing in different villages and others.
