Police on Monday nabbed two suspected Maoist supporters in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh.
Those arrested were identified as Ramkeshwar (19) and Baijnath (19), police said, adding that the duo was arrested from a forest patch close to village Jagbadi falling under the limits of Shankargarh police station.
With the arrest of two suspected Maoist supporters, it is being anticipated that insurgents are attempting to spread their tentacles in the region which is now believed to be insurgency-free during the past few years, police said.
In the wake of arrests made, security personnel have launched operation in the region and also intensified surveillance on the Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border falling under the region, police added.
According to the police, the arrested youths were allegedly linked with People's liberation Front of India (PlFI), an organization separated from Communist Party of India (Maoist).
While undertaking combing operation in forest patches under Shankargarh police limits, the police personnel spotted some suspicious movement of some persons leading to arrest of Ramkeshwar and Baijnath whereas Bokha who is PlFI Commander managed to flee the spot.
Initial investigation suggests that Bokha might be planning expansion of PlFI in the region close to Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border.
