Police rounded up two persons and seized a vehicle in which they were carrying illegal liquor worth Rs 85,000. The accused were identified as Vijay Kumar Choudhary (21), a resident of Khursipar and Surendra Prasad alias Kalu (24) of Adiya Nagar, Durg. Police had information that some persons were trying to smuggle in a liquor consignment in Durg and would pass through the highway from Kumhari area.
Accordingly, a check post was established during searching and the accused were nabbed, police said, adding, “country made liquor as well as Indian Made Foreign liquor (IMFl) were seized from their possession.” “The Maruti car (CG-07 ZD-3743) in which they were carrying liquor was also seized.” A case in this connection was registered with Kumhari police station under the Prohibition Act. The arrest was made on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
