Two people have been arrested in connection with alleged gang rape of a middle-aged woman by three persons at Pirda village on October 11,  police said here on Sunday.

However, the third accused who is also the son of former BJP Mandal president has so far managed to evade arrest.

“The victim resides at her ancestral home at Pirda and works as a cook in Salem English Medium School. On October 11, the woman along with her family members had gone to see an ‘orchestra’ performing in the village,” Station House Officer (SHO), Basna, Narendra Yadav informed.

The victim, however, due to health reasons came home early. Around 11 pm she went out of home to attend nature’s call along with a relative, the SHO said.

“Outside the house, accused youths who were in a SUV  stopped and alighted from it. Before anyone could react, the accused pushed away the relative and forcefully took in the victim inside the car,” the SHO added.

Then they allegedly sexually assaulted her at an isolated place near Godmarra village about 3 km from Pirda on Raipur-Basna road, Yadav said.

Police said the accused made a video of the victim and threatened her that if she disclosed the incident, then the video would be made viral on social media.

However, she could not bear the stress and informed her family members on October 13 and a case was registered under Section 376 (G) and 506 of Indian Penal Code (IPC),  Yadav said.

Two persons identified as Farid Ali, a resident of Pirda and Devendra Choudhury of Brahmanpuri were nabbed after the incident. However, the third youth Prince Saluja hailing from Basna who is the son of former BJP Mandal President is still at large.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raman Singh, while taking note of the incident, has directed police to take stern action against the culprits.

Meanwhile, Congress Party State president Bhupesh Baghel and women Congress activists reached Basna to meet the

victim. Demanding firm action against the accused they said if the police did not immediately  arrest the BJP leader’s son Congress party would be forced to launch agitation.
