With the arrest of two persons, Chhattisgarh Police claimed to have solved the killing of a 20-year-old woman on the suspicion of a love affair in Korba city, police said on Monday.
Korab Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh said Shahban Khan (28) and his cousin Tabrej Khan (21), both from Jashpur district, were arrested on Sunday.
Shahban Khan killed Neel Kusum Panna (20) of Korba city on December 20 and fled from the spot.
During investigation, the police learnt that Shahban Khan and the victim met in a bus where the former was a bus conductor. They fell in love.
Later, Shahban went to Gujarat for better job opportunities. He suspected that Panna had fallen in love with someone else.
On the day of the incident, he arrived at Korba and met Panna at her residence. They had a heated argument and Shahban stabbed Panna with a screwdriver to death.
Shahban was caught in a bus in Rajnandgaon district when he was returning to Raipur to meet his cousin Tabrej Khan. A court sent them to jail.
