Chhattisgarh Police on Thursday arrested two persons, including a minor, for duping a retired South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) employee of Rs 36.50 lakh last month in Korba district.

Korba Additional Superintendent of Police Kirtan Rathore told The Pioneer over telephone that Sachin Choudhary (20) and the minor, both from Rajasthan, have been taken into custody.

On November 14, the retired employee, Bhagwan Singh Chouhan, lodged a complaint with police against unidentified persons for cheating him of Rs 36.50 lakh in the name of returning a loan of Rs 20,000 taken from a retired employee earlier, Rathore said.

After learning his ATM pin, the accused made a transaction of Rs 36.50 lakh in different accounts of various banks, the officer added.

Based on technical analysis of mobile numbers and bank account numbers, police located the accused and arrested them from a village at Alwar district in Rajasthan, Rathore said.

Police recovered a mobile phone, an ATM card, a credit card and Rs 8.60 lakh cash from them, he added.
