Two girl students of Tatkela government primary school of the district died of snake bite on Friday due to alleged negligence of school teacher.
Taking cognizance of the alleged negligence by the school faculty member, Jashpur District Collector Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar ordered of magisterial enquiry into the matter. He also ordered immediate suspension of the absent head mistress and a school teacher.
Kshirsagar while talking to The Pioneer said prima facie it was found that there was negligence on part of the school teacher who instead of taking the girls to Primary Health Centre took them to their homes. In the absence of their parents at home, the teacher left the students on their own fate.
“If the girls were taken to hospital on time they might have been saved”, he said. A magisterial probe had been ordered and harsh actions would be taken if the teachers were proved to be guilty, he said.
Notable, Jashpur is a snakebite prone area and hundreds of deaths due to snakebites are reported here every year. The incidents of snakebites increase in the rainy season.
