District Crime Branch nabbed two persons on charges of betting during a match of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab under on-going IPl cricket series, police said on Wednesday.The accused were identified as Praveen Khanna alias Pintu Khanna (35) and Deepak Thakur alias lucky (32) and had been booked under Section 4 (b) of the Gambling Act. Cash to the tune of Rs 8000, betting slips of Rs3 lakhs, one colour TV, one lCD and six mobiles have been recovered from the accused, police informed.
The action was taken on the directives of district Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Jha to keep a check on the illegal activities during the IPl matches. Police are investigating the call details in a bid to track down the kingpin of the betting racket.
