Tushar Arothe, the coach of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Team, has been appointed as coach of Indian women’s cricket team. Tushar will be the coach for Indian women’s team for the upcoming tournament with Bangladesh scheduled from April 3-13 in Baroda and Ahmadebad. He will continue as coach of the Indian Women’s cricket team till 2014 World Cup.

Talking to The Pioneer, Tushar said: “My first priority will be to ensure that the Indian women’s team wins more matches as last year we could not qualify for the World Cup.” India will be playing six matches against Bangladesh out of which 3 are T-20 scheduled at Baroda and remaining are One-Dayers scheduled at Ahmadabad. The T-20 will be played on April 2, 4 and 5 at Baroda. On April 6, the team will reach Ahmadabad where it will clash with Bangladesh in One-Day matches scheduled on April 8, 10 and 12 respectively.

“We will have to work out on bowling and fielding part of team,” said Tushar who was also the fielding coach of Indian Women’s team for past three years. He was of the view that batting part of the team needs some work as in fast format matches like T-20, batting performance on field matters a lot. “We can recover in One dayers and Test matches, but there are no chances for recovery in the T-20 format,” says Tushar who has experience of being associated with the prestigious Rajeet Trophy for past 20 years.

On his selection as coach Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) Baldev Singh Bhatiya and Secretary CSCS Rajesh Dave extended their best compliments. The CSCS is going to hold IPlT-20 matches for the fist time in Chhattisgarh. The matches will be played on April 28 and May 1 at the International Cricket Stadium Parsada. Arothe, who is basically from Baroda, was the coach of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Team for the past eight months.
