Three members of a family, including a woman and her minor son, were found dead in a village in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district with their bodies bearing injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon, police said on Thursday.
Prima facie it seems they were murdered by unidentified assailants but the motive is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
The incident took place on the night of Wednesday/Thursday in Lenga village. The deceased were identified as Megharam Sirdar (50), his daughter-in-law Kalawati Sirdar (27) and her son Chandrika (10), Surguja Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Shukla said.
Some villagers saw the bodies of the child and his grandfather outside the house while the woman lay dead inside.
The woman’s husband died a few years back and she was living at her in-laws place along with her son, the officer said.
