Tributes were paid to slain constable Veer Basant at Bijapur Police line by his colleagues, seniors and local villagers on Thursday. The body of the constable who was abducted by the Maoist rebels on April 7 was recovered from road side near to village Pamelvahya on Wednesday.
Before the body was handed over to the family members to perform the last rites, a special guard of honour was also given to him. The constable, a member of District Force (DF) was posted with Awapalli police station in restive Bijapur district. He was abducted at gun-point by the rebels, while he was on his way to Bijapur.
