Former Congress MlA and party’s one of the leading tribal faces of vast Bastar region, Manturam Pawar, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday here in presence of Chhattisgarh BJP president Dharamlal Kaushik.
Kaushik appreciated Pawar at a function held at BJP State headquarters and claimed that the BJP would gain heavily in tribal stronghold Bastar region after Pawar’s entry into the saffron fold.
Kauhsik stated that BJP would give Pawar ‘a proper respect which he deserved as a senior leader’ of sprawling Bastar region though Congress had harassed and insulted him for a longer period of time.
Pawar hit headlines last year when he had embarrassed the Congress as he decided to pull out from contest hours after his party announced his name as party’s official candidate to contest Scheduled Tribe-reserved Antagarh assembly seat.
