The transporters, goods vehicle owners, booking agencies, agents and courier agencies engaged in transport of goods will now have to compulsorily get registered in the State.
The application can be submitted at the Regional Transport Office ( RIO) of their respective regions for the registration, a press release issued here on Sunday stated.
The RTO authorities in Raipur, Bilaspur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur has been nominated with the registration powers. As per the rules, the applicants will have to submit Rs 1000 as the application fee, Rs 5000 as the security amount and Rs 250 as the processing fee while applying for the registration. Once issued, the registration certificate will be valid for next 10 years and could be renewed later.
