The State Transport Department has simplified the tax payment procedure by introducing an online payment system.
This apart, the Department has launched a special drive to collect arrears of taxes from the heavy vehicles such as JCBs and other heavy duty vehicles .
Various flying squads have been constituted to collect the taxes.
The Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Raipur, said the flying squads were authorised to investigate the registered heavy vehicles owned by the industrial establishments, building contractors and road contractors.
The Transport Department urged the industrial establishments and contractors to pay taxes on time.
The RTO stated that Flying Squad of Raipur recently seized a heavy vehicle registered in 2009 and collected Rs 2.15 lakh as tax arrears.
