'Transport City' to come up on 25 acres of land

Published on:

The District administration has decided to develop a ‘Transport City’ equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities on 25 acres of land near Pandripani on Byepass Road.

The proposed ‘Transport City’ will not only bring relief to residents from trucks parked in lanes but also facilitate transporters and generate employment for about 300 people.

Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and the officers of Revenue Department have started the process of land acquisition for the project.

About one-and-a-half month ago, the Bastar Parivahan Sangh which operates more than 3,000 trucks had given representation to the Collector Ankit Anand and demanded

25 acres of land for ‘Transport City’.

The Collector had given assurance to the Sangh in this regard.Anand had recently issued directives to RTO SS Kaushal and Tehsildar Yamini Pandey to start the process of acquisition of land according to the proposal of Transport Sangh. Sources said that 25 acres of land in five parts has been identified for development of Transport City near Pandripani on Marenga-Adawal Byepas Road.

The proposed Transport City will facilitate all operations related to transport like parking of vehicles, petrol pump,  service center, garages, hotels, dhabas, retiring rooms for drivers etc.

President of Bastar Parivahan Sangh Malkeet Singh Gaidu said that the transporters were facing problems due to lack of facilities. The trucks owners had no space for parking their vehicles and they used to park the trucks in Sargipal, Kashlur, Padripani, Geedamnaka, and Parpa areas. This was not only inconvenient for transporters but also for the local residents.

“We were demanding for a Transport City for long time and grateful to the Collector for taking initiative in this regard. The development will bring relief to local residents as well as the transporters,” said Gaidu.

“The development of Transport Nagar will open new employment avenues for about 300 peoples,” added Singh.

Kaushal said that the work for development of Transport City has been initiated at administration level and the officers of RTO and Revenue Department have started the work for land acquisition in

this regard.
