Electrification of far flung villages will now become fast and easy as the Central Government has lifted the ban on providing double land of degraded forest for pulling transmission lines. The decision was taken by the Central Government on the initiative made by Chief Minister Raman Singh.
On the suggestion given by Singh, the Central government had taken a policy decision and issued a circular in this regard. The circular was received by the State Forest Department on Monday.Singh expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Prakash Javadekar for the decision.
Singh had met both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Prakash Javadekar on June 10 and had informed them about the provision of providing double land of degraded forests for transmission lines.
The previous government had laid a ban on such a proposal which was having an adverse impact on rural electrification work particularly in far flung areas and Naxal affected areas.Prime Minister had assured of considering the suggestion. later in another meeting with Javadekar, Singh had discussed in detail about the issue.
Javadekar had assured Singh that the difficulties encountered in taking up development projects due to provisions of the Central Forest Conservation Act 1980 will be overcome in a timely and systematic manner. It was a result of these discussions that a circular was issued by the Central government. The circular is however particularly for transmission lines only.
