Chhattisgarh government has given postings to about 125 trainee nayab tehsildars without imparting training. Due to dearth of officers, all of them have been deployed in election work. Now, when the government wanted to impart training to these nayab tehsildars, the election commission has objected to it.
While discussing with journalists, revenue secretary KR Pisda said that the training of these nayab tehsildars selected through PSC would begin from December 15. He said that training could not be imparted to them because of the election and other works. The election commission has objected to sending them on training, as the voter’s list review work has been started. However, permission would be sought from the commission in this regard, he added.
It was said that due to dearth of officers in the district, these nayab tehsildars selected by PSC have been given postings directly, without imparting them training. They have been selected six months ago. However, the proper training of deputy collectors, DSPs and other cadre officers of the same batch has been completed. The deputy collectors have been given postings also.
In fact, interview of the successful candidates in the 2012 PSC examination is going on and its results are expected soon. As such, the nayab tehsildars selected in the year 2008 will be equal to their juniors. The Government seems to be serious in this issue. New appointments have not been done since last seven years. Because of formation of new districts and retirement of officers, there was heavy shortage of tehsildar and nayab tehsildar level officers. The role of tehsildars in the district administration is significant. As such, the Government has taken action to fill up the vacant posts.
