Traffic offenders can pay fine online

Published on:

Traffic offenders in Chhattisgarh now pay fines online, without coming to the court. The fines can also be contested online, Registrar (Computerization) Shahbuddin Qureshi said on Saturday.

He was giving out the details during the inauguration of the state’s first virtual court by Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice, Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon, virtually on Saturday. The new court building was also dedicated at Raipur.

Explaining through power point presentation (PPT), Qureshi said if a person is issued a ‘challan’ and pleads guilty, fine can be paid through an e-payment portal. It will work all through the day and night.

This facility will gradually be extended to a variety of cases. The computer data will keep a track of these traffic offenders and thus the repeat offenders can be tracked with ease.

He said the digital challans generated through the NIC e-challan will be sent in digital form to the court.

All the challans for a given day will reflect on the dashboard of the virtual court judge. The court will issue summons to the violators via their mobile phone and email id.

The message will contain a web link and will redirect the violator to the virtual court web portal.

Thereafter, the violator may pay the challan online or contest it as per law.

Qureshi said in the current scenario, facility is provided to litigants/offenders to file the plaint electronically through e-Filing and pay the court fees or fine online. The status of the case can be viewed online through        various channels created for service delivery.
