Traffic policemen have started issuing stern warnings to two-wheeler riders who are being found not wearing helmets at important crossings of the city.
Though, the helmet rule violators are being issued just a stern warning, they will be penalized very soon if they continue to breach the traffic rule.According to DSP (Traffic) Rajkumar Min, initially the traffic cops are giving advice to the violators and making them realize the importance of wearing the helmets. He said that traffic police officers had held meetings with schools, NGO and other social organisations regarding use of helmets and all of them sought some more time for it. The helmet checking will be intensified gradually and no one will be allowed to move without helmets on two-wheelers, added Minj.
Traffic policemen had been stopping the riders without helmet and many of them were even booked for not wearing helmets. But in most of the cases, the cops advised them and issued warnings only instead of taking any action.
