The Bengaluru-bound Indigo flight that took off from Kolkata had to make an emergency landing at Raipur’s Swami Vivekanand airport on Wednesday to provide an urgent medical attention to an ailing toddler who was later declared brought dead at a private hospital.
“A family based in Kolkata was on way to Bengaluru along with their two-month-old baby. Due to sudden health complication to the baby the flight had to land at Raipur,” City Superintendent of Police, Civil lines Sanjay Dhruv said. The aircraft landed around 2:30 pm.
Meanwhile, airport officials informed that with all standard emergency procedures in place, as soon as the Bengaluru-bound flight landed the ailing child was immediately de-boarded along with family and they were rushed to a local hospital in an ambulance.
The child was suffering from some heart ailment for which he was on way to Bengaluru. Shockingly when the family de-boarded in Raipur for urgent medical attention and reached a private hospital based in Shanti Nagar area the doctors declared the child brought dead.
later on the day, the shocked family left for Kolkata by another plane in the evening hours.
