There is good news for passengers who often had to wait for long in queues for buying a general ticket at the Durg Railway Station.
The authorities have planned to install three automatic ticket vending machines soon at the Railway station to reduce the trouble caused to the passengers. At present, such machines are installed only in big stations where there is a huge rush of passengers.
One can operate the machine by using a ‘Pre-paid Smart Card’ with having a balance of Rs200 to Rs2,000. Once it is exhausted, it can be recharged. The alert related to ticket booking would be sent via short messaging service or SMS.
To obtain a Smart Card, a passenger has to register with IRCTC. It will collect the money and issue the Smart Card to the passenger.
Apart from Durg, the Railways is planning to install such machines in Raipur, Bilaspur, and Nagpur Railway stations. The decision to install such machines at Durg as been taken in view of the increasing passenger rush for tickets. At present more than 15,000 tickets are being sold every 24 hours at the Station.
Official sources said the such facilities are currently available at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Jodhpur, Jaipur and some other stations.
Those who travel on train by purchasing routine ticket will get a host of benefits out of these facilities. While the service of the machines would be available round-the-clock, it can be operated in the language of the passenger’s choice.
Once the amount is exhausted, the passenger will be able to know immediately.
