In a bid to send a message among ultras that how Government cares for the surrendered insurgents, the State Government on Friday offered job letters to three Naxals who had given up arms and decided to return to the mainstream of society.
According to police, laksham Tati and Sukman, both residents of Tikanapal and Raju Mandavi of Cholnar village had surrendered along with thirteen other left wing insurgents in Dantewada on September 3, Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap informed.
“They were highly upset with senior Maoists and hence decided to give up the path of meaningless violence,’’ Kashyap said, adding that rehabilitation policy of State Government had also convinced them to say goodbye to Naxalism. Before surrendering, they were members of Naxal area committee active in Malangir, Kashyap informed.
“Based on their (surrendered Naxals) educational qualifications, three of them have been appointed in Tribal Welfare Department,” Kashyap said. A cash amount of Rs5,000 was also provided to them as encouragement.
Notably according to police, in past few months more than 300 Naxals have surrendered, which shows weakening base of the left wing organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region which is spread out in about 40,000 sq km areas.
The appointment letters were handed over to them in presence of district Collector KC Dev Senapati, SP Kamlochan Kashyap and Commandant 111th battalion CRPF Kamlesh Kumar.
