From Neganar to Mawalipadar second category road measuring 1.30 km is being constructed by the Rural Engineering Services department under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in Bastar district.
Work of upgradation of this road, falling under Darbha development block area, was undertaken with the help of 115 labourers under the supervision of RES sub-engineer DS Masih. Despite contacting the engineer several times, the 115 workers engaged in the work have not been paid wages for the work executed by them during the months of January, February and March leading to resentment among the workers as the six months passed.
Annoyed over the delay, the workers have submitted a memorandum to the chief executive officer of Bastar Zila Panchayat demanding immediate payment of wages to them for the work executed between 4 January and March 5 this year. They also submitted a photo copy of their attendance card to the CEO. The memorandum was also signed by former Congress MlA candidate Rekh Chand Jain, Fenuraj, loknath, Raju, Kamlu Ram, Dalsai Nag, Benuram Mourya, Sampat and others.
