Three Maoists surrendered before the police in insurgency-hit Kondagaon district on Monday, police said.
The surrendered insurgents were identified as Dhaniram Gond (22) son of Mangluram, Mangal Salaam (26) son of Dukaruram and Kumarsingh Korram (28) son of Mitturam, all residents of Bade Dongar area of the district. They were active in the outlawed CPI(Maoist) movement since the past eight years, said Superintendent of Police Kondagaon, Abhishek Meena.
Meena said that they were involved in several crimes including damaging government properties, looting food meant for villagers, executing attacks on security forces and other Naxal activities.
Dhaniram was the head of Chetna Natya Manch (CNM), a cultural outfit of the banned CPI (Maoist) and member of Koleng Jantana Sarkar. He was carrying a reward of Rs1 lakh on his head. Korram looked after the recruitment of new members and children in the outfit. Mangal was an active member of Janmilitia till 2013, police said.
The surrendered cadres felt harassed by the senior cadres, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh and alleged them for sexual exploitation of women. They also blamed senior leaders of leading a luxurious life with the money collected through extortion, police said.
They will be rehabilitated as per the policy of the State Government, added Meena.
