Dan resides in Tarabahar and the other two are residents of Dev Nagar in Koni area in the city.

The 15-year-old victim boy’s father, who also resides in Tarbahar area, on Sunday lodged an abduction and extortion case with the police.

Based on an analysis of the victim's mobile phone call records, the police detained Dan from his house. He confessed his involvement in the crime and named his accomplices.

Dan told the police that the murdered boy told him that his father had come into huge amounts of cash after selling a piece of land. After this, Dan planned to abduct the minor and demand money from his father.

On Sunday, Khan and Kahnde met Dan the boy at Tarbahar from where they went to a poultry farm in Ramtala village on a motorcycle.

After a few drinks, Dan and his accomplices strangled the boy with a belt and hid his body under a culvert in Rani village on the Bilaspur-Ratanpur road.

After killing the minor, they made a phone call to the distraught father and sought Rs 50 lakhs.

The police nabbed the other two from their houses and recovered a bike, the victim’s mobile phone, two mobile phones of the accused and the belt used for killing the minor.
